In 1987, Evelin and Saul Bauer left their small tailor shop in Munich, Germany, with nothing but a sewing machine, a stack of fabric swatches, and a dream of building a better life in America.
They settled in Detroit, Michigan, where Saul found work in an auto factory and Evelin sewed clothes for neighbors out of their basement after hours. Word spread quickly about her perfect-fitting jeans and shirts that lasted for years—clothes that didn't just look good, but worked as hard as the men who wore them.
For three decades, the Bauers built their business one customer at a time. They never advertised. They never chased trends. They just made clothes the old-fashioned way: with precise cuts, durable fabrics, and attention to every stitch.
Today, their grandson, Elias, carries on the family tradition. He's updated the designs for modern life—adding stretch to jeans, moisture-wicking technology to shirts, and lightweight insulation to jackets—but he's kept every promise his grandparents made.
